About Us

Edmonton’s long standing summer fair changed focus in 1995 and discontinued its exhibition of arts and crafts.

  • February 1998 Focus on Fibre Art Association was incorporated as a not for profit association to provide a showcase for fibre artists.

  • FFAA plans a biennial competition and show to promote fibre artists and awareness of fibre as art.

  • The board of directors of FFAA are volunteers drawn for the Edmonton fibre art community including Edmonton & District Quilters Guild, Edmonton Rug Hookers Guild, Edmonton Needlecraft Guild, Black Gold Quilt Patch, Edmonton Weavers Guild, and members at large.

  • Each biennial competition and show requires approximately 1500 to 2000 volunteer hours to produce.

  • In 2012 FFAA began organizing fibre art workshops for members and the general public. This is made possible by volunteers fundraising with the Alberta Gaming Commission.
