Photography and Artist Statement Workshops

Photographing your art work for our competition,

Saturday, Feb 24, 9 am to 12 noon, $5 (payable at the door)

Chateau Louis, Convention Centre, Kingsway Ave

The goal of this workshop is to be able to create pleasing photographs of fabric and fiber texture works that can be used for competition purposes or for promotional purposes. 
 

We will look at simple lighting that can be used when photographing with cell phone cameras to DSLR cameras. 

We will look at how to use lighting to complement fiber texture. 
We will discuss best practices to create professional looking photographs including how to capture the true color in your work. 
 
The workshop will include time for hands-on practice and participants are requested to bring their camera or phone and a small piece of work that they can use to practice the techniques discussed.  The workshop should be about 3 hrs in duration.

Writing an artist statement, with Elinor Burwash

Saturday, Feb 24, 1-4 pm, $5 (payable at the door)

Chateau Louis, Convention Centre,  Kingsway Ave.

The goal if this workshop is help you write a concise artist statement that conveys your message in 100 words or less. A must if you are entering our Climate Change themed competition! Some materials supplied, but feel free to bring your favourite writing supplies.
